I'm having trouble smiling and making confident eye contact when I open- I often end up smirking and looking like a shifty bastard. Any advice? |

JazzChopin, if you feel you're too intentional and smile too seedy or fake, look in the mirror, keep a light smile, or a face that is not a frown or dead, but just a tad toward happiness. Then smile with your eyes. under your eyes there is also a muscle you will feel tense. it will feel good.  anyways you should have a natural happy feel and vibe.When smiling with your eyes you will have a strong-piercing eye. Obviously the idea is to hold eye contact so she will break hers first. If she doesn't break just go straight in for whatever move. Once you've opened, you don't need to smile and stare at her anymore or you will come off as a creep, this is where you can just be normal and convey through conversation and reactions your emotions. |

FIRST THINGS FIRST! JazzChopin & Flume. Awesome forumhandles, I love Bon Iver. All of the advice so far has been good. Get comfortable with your own looks even when smiling. People told me I had a great smile even when I hated it, so make sure your opinion isn't just inconfident self-degradation (of which I have a feeling). Look in a mirror or a video of yourself, find features in yourself that reminds you of a man you think is handsome. After a while you'll get downright narcissistic, which is really good. |
