Post subject:  Girlfriend wants to go to party solo

Meme summary: http://www.quickmeme.com/meme/3vpjia/

1 year LTR. Great overall.

She’s going to her friend’s party Saturday, 1 hour away, emails “I would invite you but I’m staying the night to catch up with my friend”’. I wonder why she didn’t just say “you could come but we’d take separate cars.”

1. Should I be suspicious. (Historically she’s done nothing to merit suspicion, and knowing the friend this will be a small tame dinner party, not a rave).

2. How should I handle this. Should I ignore it totally, should I email something like “I might be willing to drive myself, maybe bring a friend, but let me know if there’s some other reason you’d rather me not be there”, should I ask about it after, should I let her know it bugs me, etc.

My intuition says ignore the email, casually ask ‘have fun?’ when I see her, and mention that I hung out with an ex that night (which I am planning to). Then, in the future, use this as a playing card if she objects to me doing something without her.

Ironically, just last weekend she broke down crying b/c I wasn’t planning to spend more of the 3-day weekend with her. Shit test? If so I failed (I let her stay longer) although I played it cool (‘sure, whatever’, then fucked her a lot and played video games with her around, & interacted with other girls at a party we went to.) If she does this again I will definitely mention this party thing.

Tell her to have a good time and will see her when she gets back. She has every right hang out with friends and catch up, without you. Be alpha and go hang with some of your friends this weekend.

This!

Go back and reread your post. Try to see how needy and wimpy you sound. One night without your girlfriend when you say you know the friend and that this isn't going to be a wild crazy deal?

Listen to yourself as if you were listening to someone else. Man up a little bit. Take the night off, and go do something your girl would never do with you.

Relax it's one night.

If it's a small tame dinner party I hardly think the roof will go missing. Maybe it being a small gathering was another reason you wasn't invited perhaps?

Let me ask you a question. If she is the type of girl that would break down crying because you wasn't planning to spend the whole 3 day weekend with her, how do you think she would feel if she found out you had been hanging around with your ex whilst she was away.

This whole thing just sounds really needy. Here's my advice.
1.Wish her a good time
2.Go out with your friends (IMO not your ex)
3.Have fun yourself
4.Stop worrying
