Ehh, Herpes isn't that big of a deal.. most you guys probably already have it, but just don't know. It's asymptomatic and only 20% of the people who get it ever have symptoms. They also don't test for it in standard STD tests because it really doesn't have that much of an effect on your health (it's just annoying and uncomfortable).

Herpes simplex was not always stigmatised. It was merely a cold sore in an unusual place until the 1970s. As late as 1975, a study of “Psychological morbidity in a clinic for sexually-transmitted disease” (Richard Mayou, The London Hospital)[88] does not mention herpes simplex because at that time, there was no significant morbidity problem (i.e. mental anxiety or illness) associated with the virus.

herpes can be incredibly painful, extremely unattractive, and highly contagious.

Most cases of herpes are asymptotic, and technically cold sores count as herpes, and everyone gets them :S

cold sores = HSV1 = herpes simplex virus 1

genital sores = HSV2 = herpes simplex virus 2
