Hey There PUA Community!

I'm a 27 year old that resides in San Jose, CA amidst the San Francisco Bay Area. I'm fairly new to the pick up game and the techniques, although I have picked up on women in the past this is my first experience with employing such methods. Colleagues of mine suggested that I read Neil Strauss book 'The Game' and picked it up yesterday and haven't been able to put it down - a quarter through the book and I've learned so much, some of which I used when I went out that evening.

I'm very passionate about being creative and work in the film industry as a lighting designer and also own/operate a web design business. I enjoy outdoors activities such as hiking/camping and mountain biking, trying new cuisines, bowling and billiards, watching films, and live music (especially jazz).

Having lost 50lbs over that past two years my goal for 2011 is to become more comfortable with approaching women and seeing where it all leads to. Losing the weight has definitively created a new version of me that I dearly like and am hoping that it builds more comfort and confidence.

I detailed the experience in a post titled "First Night Out: Fun At A Club," it's posted in the general questions section since I had a question.

In brief I simply used the characteristics of the alpha male such as smiling when coming into a room, exuding confidence, being well groomed, etc. Not to fully repeat myself I'll leave it at that.

I'd gladly post a link but since I'm a noob here I can't post links just yet.

Fedora, Great to see that you're on here.

I'm in the San Jose area, too--well, Santa Cruz, actually. Sort of in the same boat. I'm 31, read The Game a while back, but finally trying to really practice this stuff. I'm really trying to figure out how I can get some good practice in. At this point, I'm still at the stage of talking to lots of strangers (just to get used to being outgoing) and starting convos with girls, even if I don't actually hit on them. Just trying to stay with it.

Also, I'm trying to connect with guys who are looking to do the same. Most of my guy friends have wives or girlfriends at this point, so it's tough to even talk about this shit with them.

What you mentioned sound great so far, I hate it when people read the game and then start using magic tricks :lol: but you have it all figured.

Using smiles, alhpa male characteristics, good posture etc etc are all major improvements to ones self and usually more than the average guy. So it is obv that these things would work for you. Great work man and will check out what else you did in your other post. :D
