Just dropping a little intro, and my 5th post (thank goodness, I can post the original question involving a ****** (cant post it) profile I wanted to ask now after this )
I'm from Whittier, CA. and just turned 30, but still get carded often.
I've read not too much on the forums as of yet, but a bit, and checked out a couple audio things_vid's, and thought I'd join. I also play a lot of poker and post on poker forums like twoplustwo_com. Any poker players out there?
Or.. anyone out in LA area? I work at a law firm doing IT stuff for attorney's, and am a semi pro poker player (just played in and cashed in my first wsop event.. won the only satellite I played to get in also... Just a 1k buyin though, but was fun).
I also just recently (well a few months ago now) got out of a close to three year relationship (the first major relationship that I didn't cheat on the girl too, and sure enough she goes and does it to me, how fucked is that right?) .. anyways.. I was all mopy for awhile, but started ignoring her (hard to do in that state), and now I'm looking more out for myself, and feeling better about myself.
I hit up some of the clubs here in Hollywood occassionally w/a buddy from work, who was renting a room in A Hollywood Hills more partyish house, but haven't hung out with him lately since I've been kind of mopy.. He actually gets a good amount of play, and has a lot of hookups (knows doormen, owners, etc..). Been to places like Avalon, Spider Club, The Vanguard, The C0de, etc.. with him and had a great time, but lately lol think he' got a little frustrated with my mopiness and we work dif days and haven't talked quite as much.. He was supposed to be at the Standard Yesterday-pool party, and didn't hit me back.. So need to kind of fix that I suppose.. But anyways, anyone out in LA area?
My philosophy is I'm always learning, and improving. I like to work on myself too in other faucets.. I'm kind of a jack of all trades, which sucks sometimes because I haven't fully mastered the f out of anything yet I feel (but again, I do believe I can always learn a bit more.. I finished 207 in the WSOP event I played, but had a pretty sizeable stack when I lost. There was about 4400 people that entered.. I made one mistake, which basically cost me my whole stack.. Was too defensive instead of going for it when I should.. I've put a lot into improving my poker game though.. ) ..

Any good poker player will adapt to the situation, and their game -- who their playing against, and their tendancies. There's different styles you can play, some are consistantly more effective than others, but may be adapted, and adjusted per situation. IE - the two main winning tournament styles are Aggressively picking your spots well, and immediately getting out when you know your not winning, and can't bet the other guy off the hand (based on solid math - If he doesn't start with a pair, he misses the flop 70% of the time, etc..) (so, sure you can raise with 3-5 suited, IF your in late position, and their's weak players behind you that will only put you on big hands, and drop all of their chips to you with any ace when A24, or A35 hits the board, or fold easily if they miss..).. Ok so how does this apply to girls.. Well simply aggressively, intelligently picking spots, and mixing in (what I'm yet to learn all the lingo) differen't arts and applying them appropriately should win you plenty of pots (*cough *cough women) while you can intelligently drop the b¡sh, the first moment you know it's not working..
. Also, the other effective "Solid" approach (less variance)... Play tight, act cool, calm, and wait patiently for prime spots, but do ACT when they arise, and just practice, and have them so ingrained that it comes naturally.. Do consider spots, and best 'moves', but act-be natural when you do act..
