| Post subject: | clubbing hostility |
Hey guys!, Im new to the site! so im just finding my feet at the moment. I have finished reading the game, and its opened up a whole new world to me! However there is one topic i am unsure of! (the clubbing scene). Me and my friends being students go out a lot of the time, maybe twice a week. This opportunity would normally be a good chance to pickup girls however it isnt. The main problem is that the girls we have interest in show apprehension to speak or give us time because they believe we are only after one thing! how do you overcome this barrier of trust and gain a chance to get on a level with them, if you can at all?! thanks |

Firstly I would say that this post is in the wrong section - it probably belongs under general questions. Secondly I am no expert, but I read a lot of material and have paid attention when people talk about the game and I will throw out a couple of thoughts to expand your mindset a little. The reason that girls think that you are only after one thing, is because you are conveying (through speech and most importantly body language) that you are only after one thing. The purpose of an indirect openor is to get the set past the point of apprehension or feeling threatened and get them "open" to your prescebse and open to conversation. Then go from there. In "The PickUp Artist" on Vh1 Mystery explicitly quotes that the main thing that you are trying to convey during this inital interaction is that you are "non-threatening". When you approach a set they are asking themselves to questions - "what does he want?" and "when is he going to leave?", so you address these issues with a "root" and a "false time constraint". For example you start the interaction with the comment: "I need to get back to my friends in a minute, but I need your opinion on something". The FTC addresses the question of "when is he going to leave" - in the above comment, the FTC is "I need to get back to my friends in a minute". The ROOT addresses the question of "what does he want?" - in the above comment the root is "I need your opinon on something". At least that is my understanding of it. I admit I am a real newbie but I think that should give you some ideas to explore and investigate. |
