Hey guys. I've been up all day getting back from a 4 hour car drive and just sittin at home so i'm gonna keep this as quick as I can while following the guidelines and providing what I feel is sufficient information about myself for the time being. I live in California in the San Fernando Valley. I'm 19 about to turn 20 this sunday, and super excited about it! I guess you could say i got into 'the game' by reading about 'the game'. I stumbled across Maniac High's website somehow and read through each and every little section under his 'layguide' section. Since i'm into philosophy and other shit that requires thinking, this seemed like something awesome. It was something i never knew about, but never thought about either. After this a friend gave me a few ebooks on a flash drive which included: 10 second sexual attraction, Secrets of Speed Seduction workbook, the ultimate texting guide, and 'the game' by Neil Strauss. (possible spoilers about 'the game' contained in next paragraph) Through reading the book, i got super excited about how i was going to make this huge change in my life that would benefit me in multiple areas. But as I got to the end the tone seemed to switch to make even entering into 'the game' seem like a waste of time when I "had it all along inside". That combined with the theme of a bunch of "clones" running around saying the same thing made me feel like it was kind of a worthless thing to pick up if: a) everyone is doing the same game, and b) im just going to end up hating getting into it in the first place. I also saw people posting videos on youtube and people like Neil Strauss on television shows and started wondering: If everyone else already knows this stuff I'm just going to look ridiculous trying it out on people who will call me on it. Nevertheless, I found this forum and saw how many posts were on here, and in my head i thought that this many people could not just be going out and failing. So tomorrow after my classes im gonna head to the nearby mall and just do the "hi" activity to fight AA (which is probably my biggest problem). I hope that maybe i can learn 'the game' to help myself and other people around me. Tomorrow I'll be lurkin the forum pretty hard and hopefully after that I can analyze my thoughts and make coherent, thought out posts to describe my actual situation. K its late and i'm about to get 4 hours of sleep before a test in 10 hours. Night guys! |

First off: welcome. Secondly: By saying "everyone was doing the same routines" he wasn't saying not to do it, but to get creative and create your own routines. The game is based quite a lot on this model: You create an avatar, a second you based on your preferences and who you are, but better, 100% confident, more fun etc etc etc. You are going to act to that avatar... make routines, openers etc etc. What they are saying is that the examples they give are routines based on their avatar. For example, Mystery is a magician so some of his routines contain magic tricks. Now what if you are a photographer? You can have routines that fall back to that subject. I like to do some routines based on me as a photographer. So don't be disencouraged my Style's last part of the book, but try to look at it from a different perspective. Dont blindly copy other people's routines (based on their avatar) but be creative and create your own. In that way you'll still be original AND do the game. Another example that Mystery did was: If you are a programmer or computer expert... you can tell her how amazing MP3 is. Basically it makes a big file smaller by dropping a lot of information that the human ear wouldn't hear anyway. Then he said: so how can I compress you like an mp3 file? The routine is a bit bigger and way more fun than this but you get the idea. But whatever you do, however you take things... the most important thing is that you have fun. Oh and be clear about your goals... quite important too. Gaming is fun but what DO you want? Cheerios! |

Hmm that makes more sense the way you put it. I guess I didn't really sleep on the opinion of the later parts of the book. It makes more sense in the way you put it. I'll try to sum up my goals right here as short as possible: -To not be intimidated to meet new women -Once not intimidated, to be able to start up and carry a conversation -After that, to be able to close -To get to the point where when I see a girl I want, that I can get her number right then and there if I wanted. -To be able to bypass all the differences between the way I talk and most girls talk to cut the bullshit and get to what we both want (just sex, relationship, in-between, whatever). Or maybe just what I want. -The indirect benefits (like benefiting quality of life and such) are also things I want but will obviously only come from hard work in attaining the direct benefits. Strauss' book obviously brings up the immorality of certain ways of picking up such as hardcore NLP. I would like to game as hard as I can without having to sink to using methods which are unethical/immoral. |
