Hello all! Here's a little background on me.

I am a 21 year old male currently in the Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota, US area. I'm in my third year of college, and I am going for Mechanical Engineering. As far as things I enjoy, the big three would have to be music, running, and cars.

I've honestly led a somewhat pathetic existence, until this year I haven't really known what a social life really is and my experience with girls is all but nonexistent. In truth I've never had a real girlfriend let alone been laid, and my first (and only) kiss was to a drunk friend of mine the night before my high school grad party. I've been recently into a girl and I thought it was going great. Midway through I was given a copy of "The Game" by a friend of mine which got me thinking. After reading it I decided that I would give the old me one last shot at it and if it didn't work out, I would give this pick up stuff a try. Needless to say I am here now so things didn't work out well with me and the girl. Frustrated is a pretty nice term for how I feel about dating and relationships at the moment, so I am jumping in with both feet to fix that.

I got "The Game" probably around a month ago, but I have to say that I haven't really tried running much game at the bars. Usually my "success" (got a number once, gave out my number once, and the occasional drunken grind) has been from being drunk enough not to give a shit what people think and just doing it. I'm not doing this to get as much ass as possible, or to be the best PUA around, or whatever else. I'm doing this because I feel like life and its experiences are passing me by, and because I am sick of being alone.

So thats my story! I've got around 10 books on my "to read" list ranging between pick up techniques, body language, and gimmicks like handwriting analysis and palm reading. There is a couple more I am looking for, specifically on cold reading and NLP, any suggestions? I'm going to start practicing probably this weekend, trying to get used to rejection, building confidence, and getting over sober fear of talking to women. Thanks for having me!

I would suggest in addition to all these things that you are doing (which are great), that you give yourself and physical and mental make-over. Start dressing more stylish and interesting. Maybe get a tan or join a gym. Make yourself as social as possible, talk to every stranger you see.

I am exited for you because I think you will drastically improve your life in general. Buy into this stuff, it really does work. If you can really make some affirmations that I will provide a part of your existence, then you will transform into a totally different person.

1. I AM THE PRIZE
2. THERE ARE NO FAILURES, ONLY FEEDBACK
3. NOTHING IS MY FAULT, EVERYTHING IS MY RESPONSIBILITY
4. ANY WOMAN WILL BE LUCKY TO BE WITH YOU

Welcome to the community.

Thanks man! I've been working on dressing more stylish and peacocking, but I still need some more peacock-y things to wear. I've also start to do my hair different, and my roommate and I finally started working out last week. I am a runner, but he and I are starting to lift and swim at the gym, and I am doing abs before bed.

I like those four affirmations, particularly "There are no failures, only feedback." Thats an excellent way to look at things. I didnt end up going out last night, but tonight I am going out with my brother, his wife, and some of his friends. It sounds like we are going to be bar hopping a little, so I think it'll be a perfect time to make some approaches. I'll put up a field report as soon as I have something to report.
