Post subject:  Hey from Sydney (with a slightly different objective)

I stumbled across this PUA community by accident 3 days ago...

I already have a folder full of ebooks and 'real' books (not seduction related but about interacting with people) ... and finished the game in a day...

very fascinating, especially the nlp thing.

I might not be the usual candiate for this kind of thing, but I was an total AFC until about 4 years ago.. when I changed my career path and it forced me to learn how to interact with total strangers (including HBs), but I am not a PUA, but I walk into a rooms acting like it's the most natural thing in the world for me to be there.

When I am comfortable around ppl or in a zone, I am funny, a smartass (negging comes natural i guess) and sometimes cocky.

Oh and I have a GF for the last 5 years, and not planning on cheating on her, although my 'newish' self is causing some friction.

So wtf am I doing here? I am looking to expand my knowledge of people and women in particular. It will be quite advantageous for me and my work, since I spend a large part of it at clubs, parties, events and fashion shows.

As i said before, when i'm comfortable I can fluff and be funny without issues, but when I'm not, my ability to 'talk shit' goes with it. Funny comments and negs don't have that note of confidence they need and are followed by that nervous laugh and that makes you want to strangle yourself with the awkwardness that follows.

Things I have discovered on my own (and now in some cases have a name for) are:
negging (which to me is a type of flirting really)
push/pull
AMOGin (just not always great at pulling it off)
ignoring the target, so as to fly under the radar
diffusing guys in a mixed set
time contraints
kino
and prob a few more that I can't think of right now

I don't have or can contain AA, but I need to learn how to structure the approach better and how to deal with obstacles and also create comfort so i can get into that zone where i can be funny/cocky (prefer it in that order).

I also need to learn how to establish myself as an alpha, as i often get introduced to groups of guys of the super buff and trend whoring type, which i refuse to be part of (the trend whoring, not the buff part.. i do need to work on my fitness and body and not just for appearance, but health. 6 foot, 100kg, not fat, but a bit of a spare tyre). So I end up out of my comfort zone and that's picked up by any HB's already in the set or joining it.

I want to learn to be a better wing for my mates, by being able to keep a set entertained (expanding my social circle and proofing) while he isolates. Which again is that comfort issue. So that's my biggest issue, comfort.

Social proofing most of the time, is not an issue either due to the relationships I've developed over the last few years due to my work.

So in short I need to work on AMOGing (in the nicest way possible, so they don't even realise would be best), creating comfort for both me and the set. After that affection and doggy dinner bowl eyes would be icing.

particularly interested in nlp as a side subject so to speak...

So I will be doing a lot of reading of material and forums and asking newbie questions...

and f*ck i just wrote a small novel... anway.. see you guys around..

Welcome to the community! I've got to say, it's great when people join up who want to look at the world of PU simply as a way to learn and better themselves. It sounds like you've already got a great mindset for learning - you're relaxed, and seem to be detached from any sort of "I've got to get this girl to go home with me right now" hangups that get in the way. It's no surprise that you've already discovered a lot of the concepts that we discuss so much in the community. It's not rocket science or black magic, it's all a fun and natural way of interacting with people. We just have a particular interest in learning the dynamics behind it. You'll find a wealth of information here, and we'll be happy to hear more from you!
