Hey, guys. Love what you do and have done. I'm new to all of this but willing to take your advice.

If there are any teachers out there willing I am so up for guidance, just contact me.

I have a little problem: I love card tricks... I know that cards don't always demonstrate value and, instead, get on a girl's weirder side so I was wondering if anyone could help me whip out my deck of cards without looking like a magician.

Looking forward to your responses, KATA124

Hey man welcome to the Community.

As far as teachers go I'd say your first teacher ought to be Neil Strauss (a.k.a. Style), who wrote the book (literally) on pickup. I am new myself, and his book really opened my eyes.

As far as the card trick thing goes - what is it about your tricks that get on the girl's weird side? I guess if it's simply a matter of being suave when presenting the deck, just practice pulling it out of your jacket pocket - I'm not really sure what you mean by whipping out your cards lol.

I have an interesting idea for you, if you're really good at card tricks. It's a variation on Style's 5-question game. If you haven't heard of it, his game requires that the player answer five questions falsely, and if they answer even one correctly, they have to buy him a drink.

So maybe if you want, try to guess the girl's card 5 times - If you guess one correctly you win. Guess it wrong the first 4, to make her think she's gonna win, and then correctly the last time. This may sound like a lame twist on the 5-question game, so maybe you can come up with something a bit more creative, but you get the general idea. I think it may be a great way to DHV.

Good luck to you!

Yes, I've read The Game and I loved it.

I never thought about using the five questions game but that's a wonderful idea. That way the girl doesn't assume I'm just a magician trying to show a trick. Instead, it looks like I just happen to have a deck of cards for when I'm bored. Thanks man :)

This is how it would go:

Once I've isolated the target I explain to her that I'm going to ask her 5 questions. If she answers each one wrong then I have to buy her a drink... blah, blah, blah.

1) Open the deck, let her pick a card. "What card are you holding?"
2) Let her take a card off the top of the deck. "What card did you pick off the top of the deck?"
3) I take a card off the top of the deck. "What card did I pick off the top of the deck?" (The change of control makes her suspicious and she thinks I might be doing some kind of magic trick)
4) The third question throws her off so then I look frustrated, pause and say "Oh, you know why it's not working... I forgot to take out the two extra cards." if there's no response, I start looking through the deck and add, "you do know what the two extra are right?"

At this point she will probably answer "the Jokers" which means game over. For an added affect I can even make the next two cards in the deck the Jokers and flip them over while saying "you lose".

5) If she's smart I just finish her off with "oh. so you've played this game before..." and then she will answer correctly regardless.

Sounds solid. Test it out on some of your friends to gauge all the different kinds of responses. Still the best way to perfect your Game and DHV stuff is to just field test it.

We should start calling you The Joker.

Good luck.

Haha "Why so serious?"

That sounds pretty solid as long as you can find a setting that carrying a deck of cards would be acceptable.
