Where do I start?

- Firstly, my name is Paul. I'm in my mid-20's, I reside in Rhode Island, and I manage group homes for special-needs adults. By the end of the summer, I plan on joining the military as an Army Officer.

- I heard about the book titled, "The Game" a few weeks ago and sought out to purchase it tonight. Unfortunately, the book store I visited didn't have a copy. It'll have to wait until tomorrow.

- In the meantime, I figured I'd see what was available online. This was the first website that popped up. So here I am.

- I've always been a loner who still manages to thrive in social settings. I can easily sell myself as confident, charming, and funny ... but I'm much more comfortable home, alone, watching a movie. I'm an excellent poker player.

- I haven't been in a relationship in 5-6 years. I prefer to be single. Marriage doesn't interest me. Long-term dating exhausts me. I manage to sleep with an attractive female once every few months (when I try), but I know I'm capable of much, much better. I guess that's the reason I'm most interested in this "field".

- I'm considered fairly attractive. I stay in good shape. Thus, I guess my thinking would be ... if a geek can do it, why can't I?

- That's all I can think of for now. I haven't even started reading the forums. I just know that when I dedicate myself to something, I usually succeed. So the effort starts now.

Thank you. I'll read the book and tear apart the forums before I ask any questions. I literally discovered this world today.

I will say this, though. The first thing I have to do is learn all the acronyms.

Don't worry about all the acronymns...those will come with time.
http://www.fastseduction.com/acronyms.shtml
or google pua glossary and you'll find several.

But a lot of guys get hung up on acronyms and pua-speak and miss the bigger picture. Just be careful not to become a keyboard jockey that learns everything the PUA's teach but doesn't apply them.

Grab the tidbits and universal truths from all the advice out there and create your own style. That's what I did and in the end you become more congruent.

Just remember to always be sharpening your skills and practicing what you learn and it gets to be second nature.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes.

Here's an update:

Today I purchased The Game, Rules of the Game, and Mystery's book. I then went to the cafe inside Borders and slammed through the first 160 pages of Strauss' work. Fascinating. My mind is already working. To me, it seems like getting organized and having a plan is half the battle.

I know this isn't much ... but after about 100 pages or so, I went up to the counter for another coffee. I am typically very polite and confident whenever I order something ... and from my peripheral, I noticed that a very attractive black female took notice. (By the way, I absolutely adore dark females.) She was located perfectly near the coffee adative section.

When I got my coffee and headed her way for a little cream, I noticed she had about 7 or 8 magazines spread across her tiny table. I couldn't resist. "Are all those yours?" She laughed. "No, I just come here to read all my favorites for free." "Whew," I responded ... "I thought you may have robbed your doctor's office." She laughs again.

I then make small talk about the Ebony magazine she was reading. She smiled and I decided to leave things on a good note. "Well, enjoy your magazines." I then walked away.

Wasn't sure where to go from there. I'm more of a humor guy. I like random questions/conversation. I can be charming. But I just don't see myself getting into magic tricks. I'll need another tool. Anyway, the table was small. People were near by. Wasn't sure wear to go next.

A few other interesting things happened during my reading, but I think I posted enough for now.
