Post subject:  Hi, i'm Schmidt from denmark :)

Hello there :)

I have been lurking on this forum for awhile now, and finally decided to make an account.

I'm an 18 year old male from Denmark. I have been a NEET (not in education, employment, or training) For about 1 year now. Due to this, I RARELY socialice with people besides the few friends I have. I can litteraly stay in my appartment for 1 week without going outside.
I want to go apply for a job, but. I'm too scared, too scare to get out of my shell..
as I mentioned I am 18 and i'm a virgin. I have never had a GF or anything close to that. People tell me i'm fairly good looking, but that is kinda useless when you have no confidence whatsoever.
I'm actually terrible at approaching anybody or being approach..
I have a neighbour, she is 16 and pretty good looking. She has shown interest in me, and last year she wanted me to hang out with her. But I was terrified and told her I couldn't..
I'm rather pathetic actually :p
Well, that's more or less the reason I choose to make an account here, since you guys seems very knowledgeable and helpfull here. I was kinda hoping for some advise.

Cheers :)

Hi Schmidt,

This is skittle, you need to socialize with people asap. you can do this in small steps by making a goal of saying hi to people in the grocery store as you pass by. perhaps like set a goal of saying hi to like 3 new people a day.

this is a great place to learn, and will help you a lot. however there is no real substitute for the real world experience. get out there and meet and greet. you will even make friends i promise but you gotta get out of your house from time to time. dont be embarrassed about things, you are learning. ive made all kinds of stupid mistakes with women. but i learned from each experience.

Hey skittle

Yeah, I came to the same conclusion as well. That I need to get out and socialice to solve my problem. However, I found it really hard to actually find excuses to go out. I mean, I don't really have any money, so I can't go around shopping all the time :3

Also, when I tried this, talking to strangers I always ended up talking nonsense because i was so nervous, and I felt so stupid afterwards that it actually lowered my self esteem even more.

keep on truckin man, its all good experience as long as you learn from it. if something bothers you, as yourself what happened? where did i go wrong? thats what i do and then i move on, dont dwell on the past live for today. you are improving everyday. in fact i hope you realize that you are already doing something about it.

on the money thing you could always look for some low profile job

Yeah, you got a point there.

For the past 4 months my plan was to apply for a job in this kindergarten. The money is pretty good, and i'll get to talk to alot of people and if all goes well get rid of my social anxiety.

Only problem is to apply for the job >_>

I'm kinda nervous about my awkwardness will ruin the jobinterview for me, I tend to not make sense when i'm nervous.
That's why I wanted to overcome my anxiety before applying.

But thanks for your response though, I appreciate it.

go for what i call the machine gun effect, apply everywhere it will increase your chances. this also applies to hitting on the chicks. dont just focus on one, this will set you up for dissappointment. think about it as entering a contest. the more times you enter the better your odds of winning are
