Post subject:  New to all of this!

Hello All

It is a pleasure to introduce myself in this forum. To tell you a little bit about myself, I am a 28 year old accomplished engineer in the software industry in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have been in the United States for about 5 and a half years now and prior to that I was born and raised in an orthodox, conservative family in the one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Although the conservative upbringing has inculcated in me solid values that has held me in good stead, it hasn't equipped me with the necessary skills needed from a man in courting a lady. For a large part of my life I was given the impression that doing well in academics, having a good job and an impressive bank balance are sufficient enough to get the girl of my dreams. I used to laugh at my friends who tried cheap gimmicks in trying to impress the girls. After reading "The Game" I have realized that, in hindsight, the joke is on me. To be honest, I don't believe every aspect of the game. There are some parts of it that are definitely made up to make the concept more marketable. My goal is not to play the game and get every HB into bed, although I am not averse to that thought. I wish to eventually have a meaningful relationship that will last a lifetime. Although I am working on this aspect of my life embarrassingly late, I am willing to put in the work needed to accomplish my goal. I realize that working smart is probably more important than working hard. I have only humble request from all those who have learnt the game the hard way. Please share the first few successful steps that you took in order to achieve your goals, so that I can evaluate what would work for me.

Thanks in advance and hopefully we can all help each other out in achieving meaningful results.
