Post subject:  Back to try again!

I joined this forum in Oct 2010 and must say I don't feel like I've improved at all when it comes to pick up. Now the reason for no improvement is all down to me. I literally haven't put any effort into it even though I know I need to. I have a valid reason for not improving, mainly it's because I was busy finishing my university degree and then feeling sorry for myself at not being able to find a job. But now I think it's time to try and turn things around.

I now work in a contact centre, not my ideal job but it's decent money and gives me weekends off. Working here has got me thinking about pick up again because I believe they have some similar aspects. This is because, I'm a shy person and was shitting myself when taking my first call, but once I took four or five, I felt more confident and by being confidence in what I'm saying really makes these calls a lot easier to manage. Now I also understand face to face contact is different but the basics are there. I believe that once I'm able to approach women and know what to actually talk about then it can't be that bad can it? Hope not anyway.

OK, so I'll now say a little about myself.

I actually started taking what I'd read and using them in field but received a bit of a knock back. My friend was trying it on with someone who's friend was basically cock blocking him. He asked me to distract her so I used the "What do you think of tattoos" line. Which worked to get rid of her quite well. My mate didn't pull though because of the other girl being a massive tease. I actually brought myself to try it on another girl the same night while my friend went for her friend. Again it was going quite well until my friend basically started pissing himself laughing. Apparently these 'Friends' were lesbian and out together. Him laughing completely knocked me back and haven't really tried again since then.

5 Strong Points:

- I tend to be quite sociable on weekends by going to the pub or out to nightclubs.
- I have a good social humour and believe that I could make women laugh.
- I don't consider myself to fear rejection. (Was rejected by someone a while back, she decided to go to the toilet and just didn't return but to be honest I didn't give a shit ang got along with my night.)
- I don't consider myself to be a bad looking guy. Not good looking but average.
- If I stick to something I believe that I'll be able to achieve it in the end.

5 Weak points:

- I really suffer from AA. Can't seem to do it whatsoever.
- I can't seem to get a conversation going.
- I worry about what I say because it could offend them.
- The only women I can speak to are the ones that are in a relationship with my friends as I don't think of trying anything.
- When I do go out, I get really pissed and would probably screw it up if I did speak to anyone.
(Honourable mention of a weak point goes to: Not being able to spell BELIEVE correctly which has resulted in me taking a lot longer to post this by going back to auto correct them all!)

So this is me, just here hoping I can get some advice on how I can improve my game.

Also, from things I've previously read, I've joined the gym and am in the middle of improving my health, hoping it'll make me a bit more confidence as some say it does. But I won't consider changing my fashion. Think that I dress ok and don't really believe that changing what I wear will help change things that much.

You sound like you are a man on a mission my friend and the association you made between gaming chicks and customers is spot on. Both make you nervous initially but then it becomes second nature. Its all in the mind and its all about learning to communicate. Good luck and dont forget to update on ur progress!..
Hey thanks for the reply. Any tips on what I need to do next? Thinking of re-reading The Game first then probably going to get into a lot of online research. Will be going out most weekends as well, but I think it's important to get the research done before being able to be successfully in field.
