Pulling away too far... She wasn't really mean, you were messing around you deserved this. I'd have said something like "Don't be so harsh honey you know I'm always fooling around" This also sets some frame to actually work with...

And don't really expect her to do so. If she does you should avoid this behaviour. You must find a balance between inconsistent and predictable. Mysterious is what you need. And don't apologise. That will only make things worse
