Post subject:  Just got out of an LTR and moved across the country

Hi all,

I'm 26, I just moved from DC a few months ago to Orange County CA for school. I broke if off with my ex since I figured a long distance relationship wouldn't last. She wasn't terribly happy, but she just got a job in NYC so I suspect she's kind of relieved as well.

I'm from OC originally, but most of my friends in the area are not single, and the couple who are aren't, aren't really sarging types either. I'm a reservist, but most of the guys in my unit live in LA and I don't know them really well yet.

My goals are to confidently and comfortably talk to attractive women (but by extension anyone) in any social situation. If something results from that, cool, but I'm looking for the confidence and ego boost from engaging anyone I want to as much as potential physical intimacy. As far as women go, I'd like a few one night stands to get out of my system and then find a girl to date regularly.

When I was in a relationship in DC and went out with single friends, I was a pretty decent opener with girls at bars or parties (I think it's because I wasn't really invested in the outcome or expecting anything.) That's still the case, but I'm a terrible closer.

It seems to me that a major part of successfully engaging women, let alone picking them up is eliminating anxiety. I would really, really like to do this. If I can eliminate that anxiety of talking to strange women, I feel I can do the same during a job interview or handling the stress of a deployment.

I'd be grateful for any advice, or if there are any gents in the area willing to go out with a newcomer a couple of times a week. Don't worry, I'm not actually going to introduce myself to the ladies as "Codemus," that'd be ridiculous.
