Hey Mark, I know how you feel i'm up there with you. A few months back I was too, i'd shy away from anything.
Where I started was reading The Game, I found that helped. I was lucky to have a sort of wing too that was in the same boat and we would be hit town and we tried out different things every night.
We took it like baby steps. First night we just went out and opened. My friend was wearing a stupid beanie hat so I asked women 'Excuse me do you think my friends hat makes him look gay' And they would give us a Y/N and I just simply said thanks, high 5'ed them and that was it... but that's how I started off.
Just like baby steps, you'll gain confidence. Another trick we picked up was the early shoot down. Get it out the way so you don't fear it and your set. There is loads of material on here you'll be able to fly in no time.
I'd suggest watching PUA tv show, that helped me and also the 21 Convention that's on youtube with Adam Lyons... that REALLY helped me.
I stuff suffer and am at times sh*t at this game but without the stuff I learnt I'd still be that guy you see standing in the corner bobbing and doing nothing at all in a club.
