Welcome to the forum Sensual. I don't know what specific opener you want to use for a hardware store, but my advice is DON'T. She works there, why do you think she wants to hear a guy starting a conversation about power tools and nails. It lacks originality. Be different, in a good way, and approach her as a person. A normal person. Nothing related to work.
Also, realize that she's at work, so you must be discrete in your approach or she may get in trouble (the idea of her getting in trouble for you can be enough for her to politely shut you down).
