Post subject:  Tips please for picking yourself up and starting again?

Just had a massive argument today (would have been our 4 year anniversary) with my ex who split up with me about 6-7 weeks ago. I have now blocked her on everything.

Been doing all the usual stuff, keeping busy where i can (i work shifts so when im on nights theres no one to hang with or go out and party in the day but i just do what i can), hitting the gym which i did anyways, going out meeting girls but things don't feel so great i guess today was the final nail in the coffin as there was talk of us getting back together but not to be.

Is there anything else you can recommend? Thinking about starting boxing or Krav Maga or something like that for when i'm on normal day shifts. Anything else anyone finds useful?

Well, I was in some sort of level in your situation, and I started some dance classes, is great because it has good ratio of women(60-70%) and it is fun. I was already in gym, and boxing, also great to boost confidence. But none of this will "cure" you, just distance and time. Today I had a major slap(indirect I discover she is whith another guy), because i didnt get distance from her. Lesson learned

Thanks for the ideas dudes. Dancing sounds great and like you say great way to meet women.

Times the greatest healer true was just looking for some short term fixes I guess.

Sorry to hear of your issues. I've definitely got distance from my ex now haha

I would recommend something called sarging.

Boxing is great. I suggest kick boxing though. It'll be some of the most intense training you'll ever have had. It'll help you get in shape and you'll learn self-defense in the process.

It's all win.

My suggestion is to not take up hobbies simply because *you can meet women there*.

I'm 36 now kick boxing did interest me but thought maybe i would struggle as I'm not as supple as i used to be but i am in good shape for my age. Exercise 5 times a week. Might look into it if there's not a local club I'll go for both boxing and krav maga i think.

Yep. Boxing and Krav Maga are good. Get good rest intervals though so you don't over train. Those workouts can be very addictive.

I've done kickboxing, taekwondo, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Out of all of them I think BJJ is the best. If you're looking for a good cardio workout, kickboxing and tkd are great. I think kickboxing is more useful than tkd in a street fight environment, but I gather you don't want to join one of these sports to learn how to fight. Tkd is the best for flexibility, but I find BJJ to be the best overall. The people are always fucking solid guys. Very humble people and could fuck you up if they needed to. I also believe this to be the most effective martial art.

Sucks for your situation brother. It'll get better. Time heals all wounds. I actually submitted a thread to another forum the other day about a breakup I had years ago. Maybe I'll post it on here too. Summarized, I basically was in my fantasy relationship and got broken up with. Go figure eh? To make things worse, but best friend ended up fucking her. Wow what a shitty situation that was. He made out with her first and apologized to me like a man in person, but he threw it all down the drain when he fucked her. We are no longer friends I don't have the bitch on anything social.

Cheers, brother

Thanks Hellhound and Brandon.

Yeah i don't want to learn any of these things to be a competitive fighter at them, just a new hobby/interest and something i've always wanted to do for years. Got a dental crown though so hopefully with a good gum shield it won't get knocked out.

Sucks for you too Brandon but you did the right thing and you can hold your head up high dude! Time heals everything, women related at least.
