Forum rules

A Sticking Point or SP is an issue you CONSISTENTLY run into.

It is NOT a point where you get stuck with ONE SPECIFIC GIRL.

A Sticking Point is:
Quote:
I keep getting LMR whenever I bring girls back to my place. This has happened at least 10 times already! What am I doing wrong?
A Sticking Point is NOT:
Quote:
I got LMR with this one girl! What do I do?
IT IS AGAINST THIS BOARD'S RULES TO POST THREADS ABOUT JUST ONE GIRL
If you have not already gone out and practiced enough to have a real Sticking Point from meeting an ABUNDANCE of women, YOU DO NOT DESERVE TO POST HERE.

Hi guys! This is my first post here. I have some problem which recently emerged and I can't figure out the solution that would fully satisfy me. I hope you could help me out!

I've found my new passion and immersed in social dancing community last year. I dance usually salsa, bachata and kizomba. And do it a lot from 2 to 10 hours a day. I really love social dancing parties and having there a really good time.

From time to time I really like to go to normal clubs and dance there. It's very appealing as I feel like a star there and have literally no competition on a dancefloor. No need to say that it's also a good place to get to know new faces ;) I have really good time dancing there as well but I also get a lot of attention from the whole club and sometimes it's not very pleasant. I'm rather smallframe guy and getting sometimes attacked when dancing with girls. It happens that a drunk is forcefully getting between me and my partner and grabbing her away. It can be really frustrating and humiliating especially if it interrupts very good vibe. I do not see a much sense in fighting back. These guys are much bigger and drunk.

What do you think would be the best approach here?

Hi mate, welcome to the forum!

I thought this subject line was to do with violent idiots on the dance floor originally but now I realize its about guys cutting in between you and your girl.

Can you give more info about the typical situation and your relation to the girl you're dancing with please?

Do the guys cut in at the start or end of a song for example?

Generally, I'd say its easy for a guy to "cut in" if you've no physical contact with a girl. I found with salsa and bachata though, that with these dances its easy to "cuddle" your partner as you're dancing really close with her and so there's no space for the guy to cut into. Use your judgement to see if you think the girl is ok with dancing this close. When I started dance I realized quickly there's 3 ranges of distance.... long range...middle range and close range.

Socially its good to initially start at long range(minimal kino) with someone you don't know but I like to push through this quickly to middle and close range. Most of my dancing is done alternating between middle range(more technical dancing) and close range(more sensual dancing) which is where we want to be for dance floor seduction. Usually at close range people leave you alone to it.

A good rule of thumb when out in public generally is try to maintain your awareness of people around you using your peripheral vision. I've done martial arts and we train for multiple attackers so I probably have a sixth sense for if someone is closing in on me. This helps with spotting potential cock blocks early giving you at least half a chance of doing something before they interrupt.

Example:
if you're dancing with a girl and a guy is about to "cut in" you simply pull the girl in so your tummy's bump and then turn both of you around by rocking weight onto your left foot, then onto your right and turning so you're in the way of him and her(dance floor Aikido lol). Blocking him with your back which is socially awkward for him and putting the girl outside of his reach. If you can do lifts which are very exciting to girls and allows you to build a lot of trust do one here. This may intimidate the guy as he may not have very good dance skills. Often the guy wants to tool you and steal the girl which means he doesn't respect you for some reason so I'd offer him no respect in return, no eye contact or anything. Behave as if he's not there and you just didn't see him. I've found this works quite well.

Obviously it could be possible that they know each other so you'd deal with this as a typical cock block scenario.

The key really is to try to prevent the problem where you can, or if one's developing, then to spot problems early and have an effective contingency plan of action and I guess its a case of trying several things until you find one that does the job consistently well for you.

I enjoyed dance and was a regular at club nights for around 7 years.

Just my thoughts.

Good luck with it.

MOA.

Befriend the bouncers. Give them tips once in a while. When the bouncers are happy seeing you around, they'll do their best to make your stay at the club enjoyable and pleasant. It's what I do.
