Another way to play this if they succeed would be to call them out on failing the part where they answered yes to understanding the rules, great chance to do some negging.

Sure they could come back with "but that means you asked 6 questions" You can respond with "oh thats so cute of you to think in a game where the object is to lie I wouldn't lie about how many questions I was gunna ask".

I would always prefer to take a bounce for the drink somewhere else to isolate or to set up a Day 2.

If she doesnt want to buy you the drink after you win the game at question 4 just say "do you understand the rules" as the 5 question just to seal the deal and/or if she continues to be stubborn jus neg and say "well im not used to hanging around girls that are so boring and trapped that they wont be willing to have a good time. It was just a game (laugh and smile)" tell me if that is good? i need to know?

I know the game is called 5-lies but is it strictly necessary to disclose how many questions were going to ask her or could I simply word this by saying I'm going to ask a 'few' questions?

If she happens to be successful with all 5 questions (if she may have genuinely played this before) and let her feel like she's won, commend her, saying:

Me: "WOW I've never been beaten at this before... ok... *look of graceful defeat* what's that you're drinking?" *discretely pointing at her glass/bottle then proceed to grab my wallet*

(I'd only ever plan on using this variable if she already has an easily recognisable drink)

HB: 'it's a...'

Me: You know what? *puts wallet back in pocket* that sounds wonderful - Thanks very much :D

BAM! (Game over)

I really like the structure of this routine, but even I've heard this one before so to me it seems a little 'canned', so I'm aiming to put my own unique twist on this one.

I know this isn't 100% fail proof either as she may want something different and say "actually I'll have a ... instead" but if this was the case, I see this as an opportunity to 'lead' her to the bar, away from her friends and make her further qualify herself before I actually buy her that drink.

What do you guys think?

why don't you immediately start by saying:

"Ok, do you understand the rules?" She will say yes and you get your drink immediately.

The last two times i tried the 5 lies game i got a negative response from the target.

"something like i don't like this game or i don't feel comfortable about this"

The bet is for the next round of drinks i use....

I think the specificity is important to get her to take the bet in the first place, and I highly doubt that she will want to play it if she already knows it. Anyway, would you take a bet that involved asking you a 'few questions'? 'A few questions' is a phrase that signifies something long. It's what an experimenter says when he wants you to take a lengthy questionnaire, what a salesman says if he wants to sell you something over the phone, what a police officer says if he wants to interrogate you down at the station.*

Also, I think the number of questions is very purposefully chosen, because it is actually not five questions that you are asking. Only the first three questions are serious, the fourth question is where the game ends (unless she's smart, then you'll have the fifth as backup). So you're not asking five questions, you're asking three plus one questions, if you catch my drift. And why is three a good number? Honestly, I don't know, I suppose all good things come in threes.

*Note that this is usually also true of examples.

EDIT: And if you lose, you owe her a drink. The purpose is to talk to her, not to get a free drink, so I would still consider losing this game a success. (Also, I would pretty ruffled if she lost and refused to pay my drink.) For full disclosure, I have never used this particular party trick, these are just my thoughts.

Thanks for your reply there's a lot of valid points in there, especially about the number of questions.

To be honest, buying her a drink because she earned it isn't an issue as she's passed my compliance test in the first place - I just wouldn't willingly buy her a drink to 'buy her time or affection' (back in my total AFC days I would have).

I have used this game before, but it was when I was starting off, now I'm more about natural game and situational openers.

This game is excellent, have tried it on numerous occassions and worked every time. Great way to perk up a conversation if its lacking some fun. If you have been talking to the girl for a little while you can ask her to suggest some bets to make, sometime she will offer a kiss if she loses as she is so confident!

haha that is great! the only problem I can see with that is that you blow her out of the water so fast. nothing builds up and she doesn't have fun trying to give you the answers.

This.

Remember; nobody likes losing, so at least make it fun for her.

That's just wonderful and works perfect. I'd like to share with you my adaptation of the game. The way I found to make it more interesting and infallible.

1. Girls don't like betting too much. That is just this interesting for man, for players. Girls just want fun and interesting stuff, so just make the game fun and interesting. You don't need to try to get a drink from her.

2. In my case, as I'm a bit younger and here in the places I go there's no much 'can I buy a drink?', I often ask the iPhone of a wing and put it on the table saying: "I give you this iPhone if you pass this easy test". That's already something very exciting once she won't get it and it's your FRIEND'S iPhone (he's not gonna give it to her, you don't have to explain much and they will be fine if that happens to fail). PLUS: you show a lot of confidence.

3. Explain that there are two rules: 1 - she has to lie on the five questions. She has to answer quickly. Give an example and then say 'I'll start then, did you understand the question?'. You'll always get them here - just pretend to take iPhone back, laugh a bit with her and then give another chance. Start it again.

4.The questions would be better if they're something interesting. I do something like simple at 1 and 2.. like 1 - what's the color of the light in my watch? and I show my interesting watch. And they answer quickly, becomes happy for next. 2 - how old are you? and then the 3 is the key! 3 - do you prefer a guy like that (point to some Normal man) or a cool guy like me? She will quickly answer YOU and that's great because you both started laughing and she distracts and you say "see? it's not that hard... ok, how many questions have I made?

5. You'll very, very often end it right on the 4. Nobody gets beyond the 5 and you can smile, get the iPhone and you receive a great laugh and a 'hug from the HB................ kino escalation!
