Sometimes you can trick the girl too, if she is that superficial and materialistic. If you just look high value, like nice clothes and jewelry, then she may think you are doing well for yourself even if you aren't. And she'll be attracted to your projection of wealth. That's what all the bling bling stuff is at clubs, and why dudes borrow their mom's BMW and take ALL their boys in it, so they can all be seen in an expensive car and share that value prestige.

You also can be successful if you don't project any wealth status, as long as you have the right game. I used to be very self conscious about this when dating women, as I never really had that much money either. I'd call it out early and put it on the table. Tell them that its okay if they don't like me because I know they probably want a dude who has a lot of money. They'll usually be quick to tell you that the money doesn't matter. I call this "AGD", or the Anti Golddigger Defense. They'll then want to prove to you that they can like you despite you being broke. It's just another technique that makes them seek your validation, but its also a good way to counteract being broke.
