The person generalised in this comic (for entertainment) is based on the type of AFC who follows PUA like its an instruction manual of tasks that followed exactly = sex.
Most PUA is based on observed social interaction - it DOES work. Social situation CAN be broken down and analysed - but if you then try to build back up exactly, in a new situation, it may not always fit
A great example of why I find the PUA hate so amusing is because of sales. Think how many "how to be a better sales person" books are out there? It is because people can break down the social interaction between a salesman and customer and observe what works.
Now, most people can read a sales book and get a little better because they DON'T follow it exactly - they pick up on things they do already and improve existing skills.
To take a real world situation, you have two customers - one is a straight talking, facts only type of person and the other is more emotional about their decisions. Sure, there is an overlap of techniques you can use but there will be differences. The straight talker will simply get bored/angry if you start trying to get all friendly and giving them sweet talk about the product too early. The emotional person though will simply switch off if you only give them facts. What makes someone good at sales is their ability to detect and adjust to the personality of the customer.
The same is true in PUA, if you try to use the same "technique" with every person it wont work with them all. People NATURALLY take different roles in social situations, if you don't adjust you may as well be trying to put a square brick into a round hole
