I've had two times within the past couple days where I'd get an email of a notification of a reply or comment to a thread I was following.

I click on the link, and there's nothing new!

It seems that the only way this can be happening is if people are replying, then immediately deleting that post.

What's up with that? Why would you go to all these places, reply, then delete your post?

Should this practice be banned or get someone demerit points or something?

I'm not sure what demerit points you'd like the mod staff to subtract from a user...

I can empathize, but don't follow the posts if you don't want the notifications. Not sure what else to suggest

The forum back-end allows for post deletions and edits for 10 mins or so after making them... I think it's a feature that does more good than harm, personally.

Changing the alert time to 10 mins after the post is made may help... I'm not sure if that's something we can even modify on our side, however.

That sounds like the answer right there. If someone is notified of a new post after it has been there for 10 minutes, there's a strong likelihood that that post would still be there when someone checks the thread.

After all, we subscribe to threads to get notifications of actual posts, not just empty notifications.
