For anyone who wants to learn how to dance for the express purpose of letting loose in a club, adding some style and attracting some women, see my other thread on Groove some-dancing-basics-groove-vt126351.html . That is what you should practice. For anyone else who is serious about learning different styles of dance for their own enjoyment (or any other reason fitness etc) then I'm gonna post some of my favorite (and most impressive) clips, each sorted by style. I will also try to include tutorials/instructionals if I can find good ones, and I'll briefly describe what the style is. There's countless vids out there and I've only seen a fraction, so feel free to add your own. |

Popping - a style of dance created in Cali in the late 60's, it originally involved popping/hitting (tensing muscles quickly) to Funk music. The "classic" old-school popping style is called Boogaloo. Popping has now grown into an umbrella term, incorporating many sub-styles including Tutting, Waving & Animation. http://youtu.be/yzvaYtaajZw Poppin John http://youtu.be/ZCCox0pfoN8 J-Rock - mix of many Popping styles http://youtu.be/31N7a1VViho Bruce Ykanji http://youtu.be/r1XNio0mRvQ More Poppin John http://youtu.be/f4DZp0OEkK4 Pacman - Popping w/ Hiphop http://youtu.be/Ro3iNPmlhnk Mr Wiggles - Popping Floorwork http://youtu.be/xV-Zo66s_PM USA vs France - 4 of the masters http://youtu.be/xV-Zo66s_PM Poppin Pete, the brother of the guy that invented Boogaloo http://youtu.be/cL3osYpPxdo Pop'n'Taco - the guy that taught MJ how to pop Tutorials: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nr7S1PG0JLw JRock breaking down different Popping styles *EDUCATION RIGHT HERE* http://youtu.be/WYJtB9U_MfA Popping Basics (Fresno + some Animation) http://youtu.be/Phvm03XawmI Popula ABM - Popping Footwork |

Waving - a sub-style of Popping that has evolved dramatically in recent years, basically looks like waves are created or going through the body. Waves have a start and a finish. Its bastard cousin is Liquid (born from the Rave scene). Liquid is continuous flow through the body. Only astute observers can tell the difference. http://youtu.be/81iUyyvLD5Y J-Smooth - Waving + Animation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qv4JWyHwy1g David Elsewhere - Experimental Waving http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9_MbKoeNZA Skywalker - Experimental http://youtu.be/e61M84h09e4 Bishop, self-proclaimed creator of WINDstyle (Waving In New Dimension) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqITbKHA7bg more Bishop Tutorials: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kphHx5Aack Arm Wave http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLSZT6pN8qk Body Wave http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jP1QtfOUSPM Advanced Waves http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOQzXoGw1iQ WaveOMatic - Tracing (using 1 hand to control the Wave) |

Salsa is GREAT. Salsa is already a sexual dance and you will find women there who are the "forever alone" type that really want to meet people. It's easy to learn the 2 basic moves and you can learn more from experienced women and going to classes. Highly recommended! |

House-Dance - created in NYC, a style specifically for classic/Deep House. The main House groove is called the Jack. House looks like a mixture of Groove, Tap & African. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CzfBZ1mYBs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-XWQBxWO-A http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XTZOrp4m-I http://youtu.be/XWnSAOkAInA Tutorials: http://youtu.be/UPZVAe8pKhI Basic Jack http://youtu.be/asHNd57UO-c Farmer http://youtu.be/m672-5RbeGc Stomp http://youtu.be/NGSFhejNm4I Heel Step http://youtu.be/TNwsQgRsr3o Putting it together (he has many more clips) |

Newstyle - difficult to describe what Newstyle actually is, it's heavy on the freestyle aspect and there's not many rules, with emphasis on Groove and Musicality I guess you could say experimental with a hiphop flavor. http://youtu.be/utf856lIKoU Les Twins http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtRj8DXXD-o Juste Debout - Paris http://youtu.be/nSZW-gRE0tw Les Twins http://youtu.be/9jodegXZNqQ BATTLE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8e7hC2i12Go BATTLE (1:55 - damn..) |

Locking - everyone's heard the term Pop'n'Lock but it's inaccurate. Popping & Locking are 2 separate dances. They are similar in that they both came from the West Coast and are traditionally performed to old-school Funk, but Popping seems to emphasize beats with heavy steady snares/claps while Locking favors a more upbeat style of Funk. A "lock" is like a funky freeze. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Y3OzrnBBlc Hilty & Bosch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1xARQVqZ1Y Yoshi vs Salah Tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6TegTeV8kg Skeeter Rabbit (RIP) |

Hip-Hop - just to clarify, the real OG definition of Hiphop is BBoying or just Partyrocking, that's what Hiphop is. The word these days, especially in the mainstream now views Hiphop as the style made famous in music video clips. These are really just Modern-style dance moves (along with Popping and other styles) done to commercial pop/hiphop/RnB. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0XrCjhI_uA Mike Song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjZRE6L2yis Lyle Beninga http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_yTsHsGg4o Mike Song http://youtu.be/yVqfTQvWhzs Jabbawockeez |

Animation - as it sounds, it is making the body look animated. This style is made up of concepts like slow-motion, strobing, isolating & vibrating. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXO-jKksQkM Non-Stop - Dubstep http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcz-vgs-j0U Umin - Japanese Crew http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6ZA3X01Qjo Flattop (Strobing) http://youtu.be/3oYMqDEIs1g Flattop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6jYj4qQP9M Mr Animation Tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMKRlLYj ... ure=relmfu - Strobing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lb5oxoWd ... ure=relmfu |
