Post subject:  Email Suggestions

Hi,

this may sound stupid but I am thinking of using a new email address since I have been using a nonsense email since I was 13. Basically it was my father's email and I "inherited" it but has nothis to do with my name.

So I know agin it sounds stupid but I think the nice sound of an email can just give a good vibe when you give it out. I don't think I would like to use my surname but something along my first name.

Do you have any suggestions on how to go about it? The do's and don't so I don't look like an ass when giving my email to a girl?

Please don't judge my stupid question :)

Thanks

even though giving out an email address to a girl is not preferable as getting a number or facebook close is ideal. giving out an email address whether it is a girl or a business contact or employer are both equally important, use an email address that has your full first and last names. having anything else besides those two things does not look cool. the idea is to look professional, not adolescent.

Johnsmith@
John.smith@

They would both be good. As for after the @ - something short is better. If you can avoid getting @gmail or @hotmail it is a lot better.

Some good suggestions here but, if you really want to impress and stand out:

I'd recommend you get your own domain name, and some email addies (for instance from godaddy). The lot should cost you around 20$ a year...

Assuming your surname hasn't already been registered, your email would then read:
john@smith dot com
dot
Otherwise (and it's always a good idea to register yourn name before someone else does it) go for:
john@JohnSmith dot com
