Alright, this is my first field report. I was at a Tegan and Sara concert last night in Calgary and I had to get money from the ATM for a drink before the show. So I'm waiting at the back of the line and its pretty long cause the machine wasn't working for a while. This 3 set walks up and stands behind me, then 2 of them walk away and leave this shortish blonde girl with a labret ring behind me. So after a couple minutes waiting for the impatience to kick in (you have to do this otherwise you just come off as whiney) then I look over my shoulder and say, "I'll never understand why places like this don't have more machines" then face forward again. She goes "Yeah, it would be nice if they had a couple".
Me: "At least its not its not as bad as Shambhala was"
HB: "I didn't go.... How many did they have there?"
Me: "Only 2, but one or both were broken for most of it and so you'd stand in line for an hour and a half and then get 5 people from the machine and it would stop working!"
HB: "Oh my god! Thats sucks."
One of her friends who is wearing a guy's button up shirt and a guys hat and built like a boy (don't get me wrong, she was more attractive than the blonde) walks up.
Me: "It was awful, I ended up waiting in line 2 days in a row and spent so much time in the sun I got a massive burn."
Them: "Ouch!"
Me: "So, how old are you guys? My roomate seems to think this music is just for 14 year old girls."
Blonde: "I'm 21"
Boyish: "I'm 17 and our other friend is 19."
Blonde: "So how old are you?"
Me: "22"
Blonde: "I don't think its just for 14 year old girls, I think its cool you like it."
A bunch of fluff and such. I get my money and their other friend came back, she's also a little hotter than her friend (not a fan of blondes I guess). I start to walk away, then stop a couple steps away and look back only half turned to the blonde.
Me: "Hey, you guys have any plans for after the show?"
Blonde: "Not yet."
Me: "You know any good bars around here?"
Blonde: "Well, we were thinking about heading down to 17th ave and finding something there."
Me: "You wanna meet up after and have a drink then?"
Blonde: "Sure! You have a cellphone?"
The friend that just showed up tells me the blonde's name and gives me her number.
Me: "Alright, I'll call you after and we'll meet up and go somewhere. Later."
Blonde: "Hey, so what's your name?"
Me: "Leigh. Pleased to meet you." Take her hand for a second while looking her in the eyes.
So I meet up with them after the concert and they have no clue what they are doing and I get bored waiting for them to sort it out among their group of friends and tell them that I'm going to meet a friend and I'll let them know if I find anything interesting. I talk to the blonde and agree if we don't meet up again that night, that I will call her next weekend and we'll do something.
So the blonde ended up just not giving me the right vibes, she wasn't very dominant or in control, but the 2 friends she was with were just my type I think. So I'm thinking that I might arrange some sort of house party for next weekend, or find one and then invite the whole group and have some of my friends there for wings and social proof. I figure I stand a decent chance of switching targets to the boyish girl (it sounds bad, but I'm sure you've seen those hot girls dressed like boys) or the other girl, but I'm not sure whether they might be a couple. So, let me know what you think, if you have any advice that might be helpful in this situation. |
