I realized one of my sticking points did not exist in A1, A2, A3 or C1....but in the segway between all of them. I thought you have to go from one dhv story, to a routine, to a story, so on and so on. What you need is FLOW. It doesn't have to be turned into chapters.
Some of you might have these same issues:
how do you continue on a conversation without it becoming 20 questions?
how do you avoid awkward silence?
how do you keep the flow going, without coming off as scripted or rehearsed?
Small talk.
Not about the weather, and not about her pretty hair, or where she went to school, or what she does for work.
But about things that are irrelevant; things that no one really cares about. The key is to make sure that the useless babel is either C&F, interesting, or thought provoking.
Stack it, bounce around. TALK LIKE YOU HAVE KNOWN THEM FOR A LONG TIME. Try to avoid asking questions, but if you do, make them interesting.
THEN, when the time is right you can merge into another DHV story, or game, or routine. That is where I kept going wrong.
I am a person of substance and depth. A lot of times I forget that not every conversation has to be about philosophy or religion, or politics or the environment. They can just simply be talk.
Being from scattered backgrounds, I am sure there are some intellectuals out there with the same issue.
What I thought to be hard (small talk) is actually a VERY simple concept. But it might be hard to think of things TO talk about.
That is why I created this thread. So we get some ideas of what to talk about, and how to talk about it. Also a great place to PRACTICE the small talk.

Hey man. You did a great job at putting this into words. I thought, however, you were going to put in some of the actual ideas we talked about tonight, lol. You SHOULD add those to this thread.
And, keep in mind something else we talked about. You can START an irrelevant topic/thread, but you can cut it off at ANYTIME. There is no rule saying you HAVE to finish each topic that you bring up. Snip the thread before it gets gross , or disrespectful, or whatever. |

You can start an irrelevant topic and cut it off anytime, but you also don't want to bounce around a conversation without finishing anything and throwing tons of different unconnected tidbits out....
you'll for sure come off as ADHD crazy...
right?
And to the "ideas" we talked about, are you referencing the burping and that the skiing stuff? |

LOL.
Sure, you do want to finish some threads and not leave ALL of them dangling, but it's ok to jump around too. That way you can see if either the target or an obstacle was really hanging on a particular thread, because they'll ask you to come back to that thread and finish it.
Basically, you'll want to finish the first couple of SHORT DHV stories for sure, then you can start a few threads and bounce around them.
And . . . sure, mention the burping and the skiing . . . oh, but you just did that  |

this isn't starting off as easily as the shit test practice thread.
wow I went out to the car today, had a fricking scratch on the passenger side door. must have happened when I was at the Sushi bar last night with Allison. People are so rude; it bet you've done something like that
oh you cant tell me you havnt just let the door fly open by accident; right into someone elses. stop lying ;p |
