I thought this would be interesting to discuss more than anything but just wondering what kind of books you guys are inspired by in terms of anything from self help, philosophy, psychology, NLP etc.

A few authors that I personally look up to or have enjoyed:

Freidrich W. Nietzsche (All) (for those that have heard the phrase "That which does not kill me makes me stronger", this is the guy that came up with it)

The Satanic Bible - Anton LaVey (no spiritual stuff in here, basically a mix of Nietzsche and Might is Right by Ragnar Redbeard without the racism. Razz )

The Definitive Book of Body Language - Allan and Barbara Pease (really awesome books and even has a chapter on attraction, may read it again sometime. Also one or two other books by the same authors look interesting too)

How to Make Anyone Fall in Love with You - Leil Lowndes (excellent book, only read it once but will be coming back to it soon. Kind of relates to PUA but not directly, still will come in use I'm sure as will her other books which look as if they're also worth a read)

These are some books I've read anyway that are meant to be good. Never read anything about NLP I must admit (if anyone wants to name drop some authors and titles then go for it). Also seen Comedy Writing Secrets which is apprently a good read. Derren Brown of course is also one I've seen mentioned. Probably something I'll read over Christmas.

Well The Satanic Bible is more of a philosophy for life I guess and of course you take from it what is relevant to you. I wouldn't be surprised if some of it could conflict with some poster's moralities so I guess this is why it should be taken with a pinch of salt I guess, but its good for mindset.

The Satanic Bible is simply a scam. For many of you it is cool because it makes you feel edgy. The most annoying people on this planet are the zillion or so American followers of "alternative lifestyles".

Umm, have you read it? I will admit there is a lot of commercialised crap surrounding LaVeyan Satanism and yes many of the people that follow it fit into the category you describe. Also I don't follow it religiously, it just makes certain good points, I don't give a shit about 'being cool', at least not in the eyes of the wankers whom you speak of.

Anyway lets not get off topic here by discussing the pros and cons of LaVeyan Satanism or whatever.

I would add The Red Queen by Matt Ridley, Sperm Wars (cannot recall the author ? Baker?) and Secret Garden by Nancy Friday , all 3 will change your attitude towards women. When you realaise they are more sexual and twisted than men they are easier to understand.

I would recommend a few

Art of Seduction by Robert Green
Comedy Writing Secrets by Mel Helitzer

The first has no real game advice/tactics, but gives a nice portrait of seduiction and great seductors (male and female) through history. You'll get some push pull techniques used by Cloepatra and Casanova himself! Again, interesting read, but don't expect a guide book.

Comedy Writing is another good one. If you are already somewhat funny, this book will make you understand why and will even give you some pointers to stretch your comedy in different directions. Nice exercises in there. Even if you aren't the funny type, it's a funny book to read. There is about 1000 quotes and one liners from comedians to support his theory and most of them are quite funny by themselves. Might be a smidget out of date, but it's the best grounded book about why people laugh and how to make them laugh.
