| Hey guys im pretty new to the pick up community. in the past, getting gfs or hooking up with a girl wasnt much of a problem at all, but of course i wanted to improve my game to a point where i could approach sets and get that hb i want. Now ive been working on the materials such as using cold reading routines( palm readings etc), etc but i always seem to crash and burn whenever i use the material. I actually think i do better without using any routines, but just being myself and using my own wit and charm. Am I doing something wrong with the routines? comments would be great guys |

A lot of us don't use routines or canned material, because they don't suit our personalities and so we come off as incongruent and don't find success with them. Instead, we take the principles behind them, the concepts of why they work and how they affect people on a psychological level, then we use those same principles in our regular conversations. This is known as natural game.

| ok, my bit on routines is if you are going to use routines, you have to mold them to fit you! You know what your personality is and for the most part you cannot change that. So you DHV stories that directly state who you are. For example, if you have never had a girlfriend, dont lie about it, instead try more of the protector of family ect. ect. It is kind of like buying new hiking boots, if you dont break them in to fit your feet, all you are going to get are blisters. If you are doing well on your own material, just improve on that! |

Think of routines as a set of jokes a comedian uses in his act. He knows the joke, the set-up right through to the punch line. He also knows how to flow naturally into the next joke. A good comedian can tell his material correctly and still be flexible enough to improvise if he gets heckled. A bad or new comedian will freeze if they don't plan for anything other than telling their material. A good improv comedian will have ideas that he will just freestyle on.
When it comes to pick-up, you should know what you are going to say, (this means being able to tell it well) and what effect saying it is going to have.
The way I think of it is that routines are there to DHV and gain IOI's. Remember, after she shows interest in you, you move on to show interest in her. That's the easy bit. |
