No. If you do a background check on the author, you'll find some interesting things. For one, he divorced the woman he was married to when the book was released. She was, amusingly enough, also a self-proclaimed expert on relationships. Seems like both of them didn't know how to make their own relationship with each other work. Also, the author got his Ph.D. from an unaccredited university.
Does he sound like a credible authority on relationships to you? |

My membership in Phi Sigma Tau (national honor society in philosophy) obligates me to point out that this argument commits the fallacy of argumentum ad hominem. Such arguments are always invalid in syllogistic logic, since the truth value of premises is taken as given, and the validity of a logical inference is independent of the person making the inference. In other words, the background of the author has no logical connection to the validity of the information contained within the book.
...having said that... no idea... never read it. |

Well, if the guy's "truth" wasn't good enough to make his own relationship work, then I question how valid it really is.
Of course, this is going on the assumption that he actually practices what he preaches.
That's like a guy telling me he's figured out the secret to making millions, and then running his business into the ground a month later. I can't help but be skeptical if I see something like that happen. |
