I'm a cancer survivor of almost 2 years (Kidney/Renal cancer) I was diagnosed 6 days before I turned 19 and had my surgery a month later.
I was wondering if this is a DHV or a DLV because I have mentioned the topic before in A2 just to keep the conversation flowing and I have also used it in Comfort Building stages as well. I find that telling people/women this portrays some depth to my character because I handled it so well and it happened to me at such a young age. They seem to latch onto it (almost like something you would see in Wedding Crashers lol!) It's not necessarily a gaming tactic, I'm just an open person and have no problem telling people my story.
So is this a DHV because it is a character building aspect?
Or is this a DLV because it is a lower S&R value in the evolutionary scheme of things? (I was not diagnosed because of any bad habit, It was completely hereditary/natural causes)
I don't want it to turn into a "Oh thats so sad! Let me have sex with you and make it all better!" (what I like to call the "Mercy Fuck")
Admittedly, I have been trying to use straight game more often and keeping this under wraps. I am still getting good results getting to comfort then transitioning into seduction phase...then go into explaining why I have a kick-ass scar running down my stomach! So really it's not affecting my game per say, but I would like to get some feedback and see what you guys thought of this...quite possibly using it to escalate my game?? Open to advice (for taking lemons and making lemonade) or criticism (an unfair advantage in getting women to fall for me ) Happy Hunting Comrades! -Shreder |

I dont know if this is something that can be percieved as either really, I myself had open heart surgery when i was 11 but i usually try not to bring it into the conversation when im meeting someone. save the health issues for when you know someone a little better.
now if lets say you beat an aids test, then yeah its a dhv. |

I think this could be used for well during deep rapport (like you mentioned) with a girl. The way you would frame it depends on how you truly felt during the time. Asking a question such as:
PUA: What was the best time in your life?
HB: yada yada, yours?
PUA: Mine was when I was diagnosed with cancer.
HB: OH no! How is that good sexy?
PUA: Well it makes you realize that life is short, so you start to live it differently. I feel that this has helped me in these aspects of my life. And I never waste a moment now.
HB: Well I'm glad you survived. Your so dreaaamy!
It would convey depth of character and make you seem really interesting. IT also is a great way to "open" up to someone. And it beats talking about such cliche deep rapport topics like first kiss, etc.
If you ever try this, I'd love to hear the results. I'm curious to see if how it would work. |

Haha! Well put Hobbit! Yeah I've basically run that one before just not as cut and dry as you put it. I kind of go into "People are so focused on petty, trivial moments in life that they miss out on a lot of life itself..."etc. basically transitioning into the Eliciting Values routine. Like I said, I will wait until Comfort Phase and don't just barrel into a set going "Hey! I survived cancer! Look at me!" (Although I'm tempted to try that sometime just for kicks )
Gaming aside...
That is honestly the way I look at it...The type of tumor I had develops only 2-3 millimeters per year and mine ended up being 5.6 Centimeters across...so I had been "fighting" it for the better part of 18 years. As I was going through the experience I really didn't feel scared at all. Partially because it was too surreal to me at the time...
I have used this as inner game countless times to handle AA and social shyness. I'll literally tell myself "What? You aren't scared of a terminal illness that you ALREADY beat, but you are scared to go talk to that hottie? That makes absolutely NO SENSE!!!" at which point I open the set. Talk about a reframe... haha!
I know that not everyone has the same experience to relate to, but hopefully you can learn from mine. That is part of the reason I love talking about it to anyone! I've had people (friends and strangers alike) really re-evaluate whats important in their lives after hearing my story. It's definitely a positive thing that happened to me. -Shreder |
