i am really, really bad with names and i forget somebody's name right after i am told the name. could this be used as a neg? maybe to convey a message that shes not that interesting or something. is this too harsh or too stupid?

I dont think its harsh, and it does'nt hurt being stupid every now and again as long as its funny, it may come accross as bit abit ignorant.

But say your chattin away and you say 'sorry whats your name' again (said quickly) she tells you and then you carry on talking or say 'of course i remember your name silly' and then carry on convo

(you may want to drop the sorry word though)

This would work better if the conversation is'nt abit bland and you got some cocky + funny goin on

Just an idea

What I try to do it repeat their name back to them immediately and then peg their name with a phyisical feature or mannerism.

Because all you do is joke. This is a similar reason why one of the moderators (that's the people that keep the order around here and that are generally considered "the law") ended up leaving.

Joking is fine as long as you are giving helpful and constructive advice as well, but you don't, you merely joke, thus making everything you say useless mindless drivel and worth about the same amount as a steaming heap of dog shit.
