I can't really explain why last night was any different; but it was great! Obviously, I'm still really new to this, but I can honestly say something clicked last night. After I got going, I was on fire. I don't know if it was because my wing (Dubs) was with me, or if it was because I was just feeling more confident, or what...
I number closed two gorgeous women, opened a couple mixed sets, tried out new openers, and just rocked! I number closed a pair of HB7s (strong), an HB8 (strong) and an HB9 (weak). I probably opened too many sets to remember, but I'll try to put them all down here.
Prep
I chilled out and talked strategy with my wing for a little. He's a master of comfort, but has trouble in A1 A2. We went over openers and whatnot, and we got ready. I wore a crazy nuggets hat and matching puma shirt / shoes outfit.
Set 1
We started out at this restaurant bar, ran into some guys we knew from high school, chatted shit for a few minutes, then went in. First set was mixed, target was an HB 7.5. She left her friends to get a drink, so I caught her on her way back.
Jealous girlfriend opener. Brought my wing in on a value intro. But as we got going, she moved back into her set (still facing us). Her bf then put his arm around her and we ejected. Still, not bad for a start.
Analysis: Should have tried out some bf destroyers, or got her to introduce me to her group.
Set 2
Cruised a couple bars with no good targets, wound up at a place called the Pub. Saw a two set, HB8 and HB9. Jealous girlfriend opener. Target ejected quickly just as I was value intro-ing my wing. We stuck around and transitioned to A3 with the obstacle, but she eventually ejected and we moved on.
Analysis: Once the target left, my wing should have ejected (after DHVing little). I did neg her, but it was a light neg.
Set 3
Changed bars to the Walrus. This set was on fire. Mixed set of four girls, two guys, sitting. I approached and opened with jealous girlfriend. I picked a target (HB8.5), but I switched (to an HB8) as my opener hooked. It was (reportedly) my target's 22nd birthday, and she asked me to buy her a drink. I said girls buy me drinks. She laughed. I talked with her friends (the two guys ejected), and then she IOI'd asking for my name. I told her Fabio, she laughed some more, and tried to touch me so I said "You think you can touch Fabio for free? This ain't no free day at the petting zoo girl... I'm putting 5 bucks on your tab." Her friends laughed.
My wing came in and DHV'd me, telling them I was talking with a Louisiana label about signing (mostly true), and how we were out celebrating it. The target turns out to be a hip hop head, so we chat hip hop, and I pretend to mostly agree with her taste and tell her about some artists I've met or played with. I also neg'd / DHV'd, "You know, you made a bad impression at first because you just talk so much. But honestly, you know your hiphop, especially for a white girl." She was shocked I'd say that, but smiled and totally dug it. Here is where I stumbled a tad.
I tried to isolate here, saying "man, it's loud here! Let's go sit on those couches and talk." She's down, but she needs to tell her friends. She goes to them (they are talking to wing and the originally guys from the set) and one of them puts his arm around her and she chats with the group. One of her friends was still with me at the table, so I chatted her up. Anyway, when target didn't return in 3 min, I ejected.
I told her I had some friends to meet, and she said we should talk again. N-closed it, and used the kiss on the cheek routine. My wing also n-closed 2 girls in the set, including my original target. No hard feelings at all, for the record.
Analysis: I should have waited a little longer to isolate, got her interested in something in particular (go half way through a DHV story, then make the move to isolate). I think I also should have ignored her more. I telegraphed too much interest by talking to her and not her friends so much.
Set 4
I see an HB9 and I think she looks like a girl from my HS. I talk it over with wing, and then open with "You didn't go to East High School did you?" No. I tell her she looks just like a girl who went there, she laughs and says she gets that a lot. (I should have said she looked like a girl who used to have a crush on me)
She's from FL, and we talk FL for a bit. I DHV and tell her I got paid to play on a cruise once (partially true) and we left from Miami. We were there for a night. I tell my DHV fight story about a club in Miami, and she seems interested and agrees that Miami is a crazy place. Wing comes in and DHV's me, going with the label signing again. We chat shit for a bit, and she says she's going to meet her friends. I ask her to introduce me (she doesn't even know my name yet) and she says sure.
I know two of her friends. We all chat it up, she leaves after a bit, but I don't mind because I'm vaguely friends with an HB8 who I catch up with.
I meet her a few minutes later, some guy is buying her a drink. I laugh at him and smile at her, she understands and smiles. I n-close in front of him, and then lean into her and say "keep working the free drinks... I know your type" she smiles and we hug.
Analysis: I know this was an empty connection who I'll never hear from again, but it still felt great to n-close such a hot girl. I should have time more time, not abandoned her when I got to her group, kept our convo going, and tried to isolate (or at least time bridged).
Set 5
Leaving the Walrus, I noticed a girl who I'd seen inside talking to not only her boyfriend (I assume), but also a bunch of other guys. I walk right up to her and say "do you know why you suck? [why?] because I wanted to talk to you, but you were Miss Popular, surrounded by a bunch of guys all damn night. I wanted to say hi, but I couldn't. And that's why you suck."
She looked scared, but warmed up quicky. She introduced me to her sister. Just as my wing was about to walk up and DHV me, her bf came by, grabbed her by the arm (wordlessly) and marched off. She stammered out a "goodbye" looking back. Her sister stuck around to talk. But she was an ugg so I ejected.
Analysis: Obviously, the bf coming up like that will fuck a set up. Still, I could have stopped him to chat and tried to disarm / destroy. Other than that, I think I should clean up and improve the wording on the "why you suck" opener.
Set 6
The rest of the night I let wing open basically. We went to a bar called the Foundry, and found nothing. Hit up Around Midnight, and it was wing's turn to open. While he opened a one set (I was really just waiting for his signal to come in and DHV), I decided to open a two set walking past for a chance at a moving set. They stopped and turned, and I was surprised. Unfortunately, as I looked closer they were an HB7 and an Ugg. Shame.
Anyway, jealous girlfriend opener went great. Wing came back (got blown out on his set), DHV'd me and wing'd the Ugg for me. We talked high school, and they gave us crazy IOIs. I should have n-closed for the practice. Shit, I should have tried to k or f close for the practice, but I was genuinely disinterested and just burned the set.
Analysis: I think the fact that I didn't really care about this set helped me. I'm not sure how much though, because the fact that they weren't hot and didn't have bitch shields makes things easy. Still, I should have hung in for the practice.
Set 7
We were tired at this point, I opened one last set for the practice. The girl had a bitch shield, I blew through it, but she was still boring as shit. And actually, not that hot. If I had waited for 15 seconds instead of 3, I would I known. I chatted her up, neg'd her, n-closed it, and then deleted the #.
Analysis:
It went well. I should have noted her >HB7 status. Bleh. Stil should have pushed the set for practiced.
On the night:
I've been doing better dropping negs. My new favorite neg to use is "nice skirt! I've been seeing that around everywhere." I always get a sad yet pretending to be complimented face. Cracks me the fuck up.
Also, I've been saying my name is Fabio as a joke/neg. Girls laugh, and it gives us something to flirt about a little during the conversation. I get a kick out of it 
Lastly, I've been doing well with number closes. I'll call the 3 I aquired over the last 2 nights and we'll see how they go. I'll go read all about calling.
Oh! I almost forgot. We got Pizza afterwards, and the server told me I was hot. I came by and told her she was cute, chatted for a minute and n-closed it. So 4 numbers in the last 2 nights. I bet they are all flakes but hey, it's a start. |
