opening with a neg....I crashed pretty hard last night

So I'm at a Karaoke bar and I see a set wearing the same outfit. I approach with "do you two always act this naive when you go out?" they respond "what are you talking about"? I say, “I've never seen a girl wear a dress with jeans underneath, ESPECIALLY in the summer!" They both started tag teaming me with insults about my hat and my clothes. I walked away and failed. Any suggestions to what I could have done differently?

the only time I've ever seen girls dress like that is because of religion, mainly polygamists but some other ultra conservatives too.

I think that calling them naive because of how they were dressed might have been the wrong neg to use. Although I'm not going to suggest a better one because I'm a n00b.

That seemed like really direct insult. Negs are small putdowns. Maybe something like:

YOU: "Are you two from out of town?"

HB'S: no/yes Why?

YOU: Because they way you are dressed seems to be way to hot for the summer. I always try to dress blah blah blah...

I'm really new to all this so I'm not sure if thats any good but it seems less threatening.

haha been there dude. I asked a HB10 why girls never wear short skirts (she was wearing one). Basically bombarded me with questions, are you talking about me, do you have a problem with my skirt, yadi yada. I had been drinking and wasn’t ready for all that, and it basically ended with her saying F#*K YOU and giving me the finger. LOL

I would have done mine differently and not have let her talk afterwards but I wasn’t ready. Also with yours you should have approached and Neged one of them instead of both. Neg the HB and befriend the friend. You could have asked if the HB always tried to copy her, or is your friend (HB) always this unoriginal. This would work on a few levels because you are neging her and its probably the obstacle that is really copying the target. I read in the Mystery Method a quote about girls dressing alike. I don't have the book here but look through there for it. It was a pretty good one. Better luck next time

I like the out of town one a lot I'm gunna start using that all the time. the copy cat thing is pretty solid too. well I'm taking a break 2night but 2marrow ill be back at it. I'm gunna test the out of town line 2marrow in the field. thanks guys

openiing with a neg........ ooooo, very hard to come off unless your expert in turning it around and dealing with bitch shields - whcih they both put up straight away....

simple tip:

DONT OPEN WITH A NEG!!

and you must even be careful of negs - used properly it is very powerful, but if its in the wrong context you can just as easily burn. Having a go at the way a girl is dressed (and if anyone has had a girlfriend we all know how much pride and time they put into it before going out) is very dangerous if you dont have any COMFORT/ RAPPORT.

another train of thought may be what is nased on Tyler Durdens philosophies. i remeember reading a while ago one of his writings about 'treating a women like a mate' - in essence his post outlined not treating her like a princess and buying her flowers, chocolate etc and just being at her beck and call (i think thats the saying???) but if she does something worth while - then you will reward it.
ie - if a mate was to help you move house, then you might buy him dinner, and she would be in the same vein as this...
NOW - back to the topic - if you were to meet a guy in a bar who looked kinda cool, and you were to strike up a convo - you wouldnt say 'thats a shit hair cut!!' .... from this you would expect him to jack up and get offensive towards you...

same applies to women...

there is a huge diff between a soft opener - 'hey you guys from out of town?' then going to neg compared to opening with a neg.. - 'you guys are niave'

Opening with a neg is extremely risky business. Some girls would go for it playfully, others will throw it back in your face. If you do choose to open with a neg and you see it is interpreted badly or they are getting angry, you have to immediately throw a compliment out there. You could have followed your skirt and jeans comment with an "I, personally, find it kind of sexy" or "the less revealing beautiful women are, the more it makes you wonder how much more beautiful they are". You could have played the "conservative" comment talked about above and followed that with personality tests, cautiously placing small, playful negs in, and commented saying "I knew you would be a nice, intuitive girl just by your dress and demenor". From there, isolate.

If the came back at you in such a manner...its a good thing. I remember Style once posted that super HB10s cannot be approach with regular openers. They had to be hit with a neg first, which would them cause them to get angry and mad at style. He would eject initially, but later on in the night should he bump into them, it was much easier to approach them. I believe the point he was making was that, HBs that are really hot have that as the ultimate shit test, simply pass it then reinitiate later on and their buying temperature will be better.

Ill look for the post, but I believe it was by style or tyler durden doing a field report on the matter..If anyone knows what I am talking about feel free to post it for me
