First Pick Up Disaster- Suggestions Please

Alright today I wanted to make an effort to sarge. Tuesdays and Thursdays are the days in which I have an hour break before class. There were a couple of girls around but none that I wanted to sarge since they put up barriers. Barries such as music or just totally engrossed in work. Anyways I didn’t do anything until right before my next class started. I queued up waiting for the previous class to exit the room and there was a HB in front of me. I positioned myself in front of her and looked over my shoulder. The following is a close recollection of what I said to her:

Oz- Quick question, do you believe in esp? I was with my friend the other day and I wanted to play an esp game. I made her think of a shape… simple ones such as a diamond, square or triangle. Each time she thought of it, I guessed it right. Of course there were some occasions where I was wrong, but overall I was 90% accurate.

Her: Yes, I really believe that anything is possible.

Oz- You know what, I will put it to the test. Sit by me and I will show you something that will blow your mind.
Her: Sure; I am X by the way. (Extends her hand)

Oz: Im Oz, nice to meet you. (When I shook her hand, its hard to describe but I definitely saw something in her eyes, I knew my opener was successful but I just needed to follow the thread properly.)
Oz: Go into this row… Alright, you ready? Into stigmata routine… “Picture a person that you have a strong emotional connection to….write it on this piece of paper and fold it up” (The point is I totally F’ uped the mind reading illusion. Right after things sort of spiraled.)
I started to laugh and told her that I messed it up. She started laughing as well. Case in point she got the impression that I don’t believe in ESP and just realized it was a pick up attempt. At least that’s what I gather. She said, “you really don’t believe in ESP then” I should have followed the attempt and just BS the whole routine instead of indicating that it was a trick.

So we start talking about the Prof and how her voice shakes when she speaks. I made fun of her being a bit to girly with her hand writing, mine is really messy so she called it boyish. The conversation thread is a bit weak, I tell her about an interesting course to take and so one.
Moving on, class starts. I am leaning out with alpha male body language. Her posture is leaning in, and legs crossed towards me. While class is going on, she pays little attention to the lecture, and is either just playing with her nails or playing with her phone. –Should I have told her to stop?

Anyways, after the whole effort I made, I wanted to come out with something material. So I ripped out a piece of paper from my notebook. Wrote my name and number, tore it in half and gave her a blank piece. She looks at me and I said “get creative” she writes her number and I take it.

Two days later...
I sent her a text
"I have almost mastered esp! Razz

Do you play pool" and got nothing.

This is so damn difficult.

Not bad overall, but I think you need to cut the thread on this ESP thing. Its a fun routine that I like doing as well, but I think you need to focus on multi-threading and working on new routines. You might have over used it some, and you need to inject some fresh material to keep it fun.

As Mystery said, "A comedian tells one joke, it was funny. When a comedian tells multiple funny jokes, he's funny!" The joke is no longer the funny item but the comedian. Likewise, you say one interesting thing, that is interesting. You say several fun and interesting things, you are now interesting. Smile

What are some threads to introduce?
I was going to say something like:
Me: Did you do anything interesting over the holiday?
Her: No not really, you?
Me: Yes, oh wow that reminds me, you will never believe what happene while I was at Indonesia...

I just alluded to the esp thing in the text just because we found it funny, but I actually expected her to messsage back. To be honest, it is a bit upseting. This was actually the 2nd time in my life that I have ask for a girls number. Every time in the past they either gave it to me or I take their email address and go from there.

I was not really into the girl, I just wish I got more out of the effort you know? Plenty to learn from i guess.

When you get a girl's number, the first thing I try to do is get a laugh from them. I'll send a joke, and if I get a reply, I might send another joke. Don't get around to asking them out too soon, which is sort of what you did when you asked if she plays pool. It is generally better to call them, rather than texting. Expect to get the voicemail, so write down what you want to leave in a message, or else just hang up and follow up with a text message. A good text message in your case would be a joke that has anything to do with billiards. A second joke about billiards (not in the same message) will have her picturing you and herself in the billiards hall and she is laughing and enjoying herself in your company. From there, you will know if she is interested enough to actually go and play billiards with you. If so, tell her that you are going at some time and place, and that you'd like her to come along. If she doesn't reply or says she can't go, you should go anyway, and sarge it up =)

After you get the number you have to keep the conversation going a bit more, I often sarge in lectures and part of the key is watching the time so you dont get the number and leave too soon (when the lecture ends) it makes it feel too much like you just wanted a number, keep the conversation going so the HB feels comfortable and doesn't get buyers remorse.
